University of Santo Tomas Application Guide



Which educational powerhouse was once called Colegio de Nuestra Señora del Santisimo Rosario?  Which  university was founded on April 28, 1611 and is the oldest university in Asia? You got that right, the answer to both questions is the University of Santo Tomas. With 400 years of outstanding education in their track record, there is no doubt that UST is one of the most sought after universities to get into.
Freshman applications for the academic year 2012-2013 has already begun, but there are still several UST Entrance Test (USTET) dates you can register for. Here are the basics for the UST application procedure.
ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS
All high school students who are set to graduate within the current school year are qualified to apply directly for the USTET.
As posted in their official website, UST also accepts the following applicants provided that they are able to submit the corresponding requirements. Please note that applicants who fall into any of the following classifications are also required to secure clearance from the UST Registrar’s Office before they apply for the USTET.
a. Applicants who are graduates of previous school years
Submission of original high school credentials is required.
b. Applicants who took and passed the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) and Non Formal Education Accreditation and Equivalency (NFEA&E) Test
Submission of the certification for passing is required.
c. Applicants who are candidates for graduation of foreign schools:
Submission of academic records, Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR) and photocopy of the passport is required. Filipino citizens who are graduates of foreign schools are required to submit their academic records and photocopy of passport.
d. Applicants who carry an alien passport but are graduates of local schools:
Submission of academic records and Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR) is required.
UST APPLICATION FORM
UST Main Campus
Application forms are available from the UST Office for Admissions, Rm 104 Tan Yan Kee Student Center until December 10, 2011. The office is open from Mondays to Saturdays 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM / 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM.
Online Application
The application forms are also available to directly fill out online; you can also choose to downloadand print the blank form.
Testing Centers
Another option on how you can get the application forms are through the respective provincial testing centers. For students who are currently residing in foreign countries, UST also hasinternational testing centers.
SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
You may proceed to the UST Office for Admissions (OFAD) or at any Testing Center near you for payment and submission of the following requirements :
    1. Printed application form
    2. Clear photocopy of birth certificate
    3. Certificate of Candidate for Graduation to be signed by the School Principal/School Registrar
    4. Two (2) 2″ x 2″ recent identical pictures with printed name and signature at the back; and
    5. Payment of application fee.  If the applicant is a high school student who is a candidate for graduation within the school year and belongs to the top 5 of their batch (based on the third year final grading period), the application fee may be waived upon presentation of a certification from the high school principal indicating their academic standing.

USTET EXAMINATION DATES
Once you have submitted your application form and requirements, you will be scheduled to take the USTET on the soonest testing date available.
For the UST campus, the next exam schedules are:
  •  October 30, 2011 / December 11, 2011
  • Sundays – 8:00 AM – 12:00 NN / 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

USTET RESULTS
Results of the USTET will be made available on January 18, 2012.
